Dean Jones completed preparation for the ministry in an evangelical, Protestant denomination, and subsequently served as the pastor of two rural churches in Oregon.  After receiving a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Washington, Dr. Jones held university teaching positions for thirteen years. He later became the director of ecumenical night ministry programs in different cities, reaching out to the homeless, chemcially dependent, and others downtown late at night.  Dr. Jones is the author of Face to Face with Society's Lepers: Downtown Night Ministry, and The Other Chamber: A Portrait of the Mentally Ill Offender, and co-author of Walking Where the Sails Met the Rails: A Venture into Tacoma's Past.  An avid runner, Dr. Jones has successfully completed ultra marathon events including fifty mile runs.  With his wife, Ruth, he is a member of Light of Christ Catholic Community in Longmont, Colorado.
